Dear Trevor,
May I take the liberty of using your Post to ask an open question to Peter
C. please.
Peter, would it be beyond the bounds of the List for a 'sort of'' question
and answer situation, whereby List Members could engage in compiling
reminiscences from different people who are List members. Ok, a certain amount
could be done 'off-List', but there is an element of this that might be
useful to be 'on-List', in as much that the input of others would stimulate
other recollections. This is a possible 'seed' matter, in that the List could -
via a possible side line route of some kind - be a catalyst to generate
an archive of data of mining areas now dead.
I have very clear memory for example of Andex Mines activities in
Mid-Wales, more importantly the recollections of the day from those directly
working for same at the time - and many who were involved in other directions.
This is just an idea, and I wonder what others might think? You see, I have
many p.graphs of Weardale, but, the psychology of this is that it is far
easier to go through such things with another party as their questions will
- beyond doubt - trigger other memories. I am sure I am not the only one
who thinks this way: may I presume to suggest we are all guilty of not making
proper record of things thirty years ago!!! Oh dear, this does make me
feel so old but I will fight my way through it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regards, Bernard
