Dear all,
I hope that I have now solved the VBM8 issues with the mex files on Windows 64-bit systems. The reason was that the redistributable libraries for MS C++ 2008 Express are not provided with Matlab for Windows 64-bit (see http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/techdoc/rn/broifyr-1.html#brtk8xs-1). Thanks to Guillaume Flandin for pointing to this issue.
I have now compiled with MS C++ 2005 Professional and the new VBM8 release can be downloaded with the update function or at:

Best regards,
Christian
