Greetings from the organisers of the 1910 Centenary Conference at the University of Glasgow – the inaugural conference of the Scottish Network of Modernist Studies and British Association for Modernist Studies.
1. Registration.
We are delighted to announce that registration for the 1910 Centenary Conference is now open on the conference website: (http://www.gla.ac.uk/departments/snms/1910centenaryconference/)
The website has also been updated to include more information about the programme of academic events and activities in a series of links on the right hand side of the page. We strongly recommend consulting these pages before proceeding to registration.
Fees and deadlines
Please note that the current earlybird fees of £150 (faculty) / £85 (postgraduate / unwaged) will be available until Friday 5th November. After that date fees will increase to £180 and £105 respectively
We would ask that all speakers register by Friday, 29 October 2010. If you have not registered by that date we will assume that you are no longer able to speak at the conference and will offer your space to another speaker. Registration for all other delegates closes on Friday 26th November.
Optional events
We are offering a number of optional events for delegates at the conference, all with a 1910 theme. These are:
· A bespoke tour of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
· A specially commissioned programme of films selected by James Joyce during his time as manager of the Cinema Volta, Dublin, to be held at Glasgow Film Theatre
· A visit to the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall
Further information about these events can be found on the links on the right hand side of the conference webpage. We would encourage you to read about these activities before proceeding to registration.
We are also holding a Conference Dinner in the Banqueting Hall of Glasgow’s spectacular City Chambers, to be preceded by a civic drinks reception hosted by the Lord Provost in the Picture Gallery. The drinks reception is free, but you will need to sign up and pay for the conference dinner via the registration form.
Finally, if you have any queries, please direct them to the conference organisers at snms@ arts.gla.ac.uk
We look forward to seeing you in December!
Bryony Randall and Matthew Creasy.
