Job opening at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, www.cern.ch) in Geneva, Switzerland:
Openlab communications officer
The Information Technology (IT) Department provides computing services for all aspects of the CERN's activities. These require a wide range of technologies and skills including the provision of computing facilities, local and wide area networking, platforms for computing environments, software development, databases, desktop environments and a wide range of system integration and management tasks. The Department collaborates with institutes around the world as part of the LHC Computing Grid to provide the environments for physics data processing as well as engaging in research and development projects with industry as part of the CERN openlab and partnering in a number of European Commission projects.
CERN openlab is a partnership between CERN’s IT Department and leading IT companies, for test and validation of new technologies. An important facet of the CERN openlab activities is the dissemination of the results of the partnership to the press, the scientific community and the public, via articles, press releases and events organized both at CERN and by the partners.
As the communications officer for CERN openlab, you will be responsible for liaising between CERN’s IT Department and the partner companies through marketing and communications contacts.
