Hold fire MK. Academics only do what the taskmasters dictate. As, in
practice, we are only measured by the quantity of overheads we bring in,
how many papers we publish, and how many PhDs we push out the door, what
would you concentrate on - keeping your RAs and technicians in a job, or
keeping a PEST website up-to-date?
That sounds more of a brickbat than it's meant to be, but none-the-less
demands and priorities turn on a coin in a resource-constrained system.
Chip Shop? A bath or a temperature might be the limit....
