Hi
I have been asked the question regarding the use of vinyl gloves to protect employees from the risk of infection from BBVs. i have always given the advice that vinyl will not provide adequate protection, and that NRL or nitrile should be used. I have recently found a study from 2006 (www.epic.tvu.ac.uk/PDF%20Files/epic2/epic2-final.pdf ) which states if gloves (NRL, nitrile or vinyl) meet the EC standards (EN455) they will provide the same level of protection (i.e.e are suitable for use with blood and body fluids)
I would appreciate any comments on this study and whether anyone on the list has revised their advice as a result.
Regards
Paddy Lorenzen
