Dear Friends of surveillance and better times!

!Mediengruppe Bitnik: Too big to Fail Too Small to Succeed

An intervention into the financial systems of London and Zurich.
Reconaissance, media technologies and advertsing playfully probe the
blind spots of the financial districts and question the shift in power
from state to corporation.

SPACE Courtyard and Mare Street Advertising Billboard
129 131 Mare Street, London E8 3RH

This is Swiss artist collective !Mediengruppe Bitnik's first UK solo
exhibition and is presented concurrently with an exhibition at Les
Complices in Zurich. It follows their three-month PERMACULTURES

systems against the backdrop of the financial crises. !Mediengruppe
Bitnik describe their work as an 'explorative practice' to determine how
systems can be subverted, interfered with and transformed.

Too Big To Fail / Too Small To Succeed is kindly supported by Swiss
Cultural Fund in Britain.

Chess For CCTV Operators
Performance in the surveillance space of Essen, August 2010
Video 15'37''

For "Chess for CCTV Operators" !Mediengruppe Bitnik is in Essen for
three days in order to challenge CCTV Operators to a chess game. For
this purpose they trace surveillance signals, hijack them and replace
them with their own video signal, the chessboard. Thus the surveillance
monitor in the control room is taken over and turned into a game console.

With their invitation to play !Mediengruppe Bitnik breaks the power
structure of the surveillance situation - a subtle performance for a
single and specifically selected recipient.

Les Complices*, Zürich, Switzerland
Too Big To Fail / Too Small To Succeed

Eröffnung: Mittwoch, 25. August 2010, ab 18h
19h: Kommentar zur Finanzkrise von Kaspar Surber, WOZ-Redaktor
Ausstellung bis 18. September 2010
Do, Fr, Sa: 14 - 18h

Hinweis Veranstaltung: Following The Crisis
Donnerstag, 16. September 2010

Mit der Ausstellung «Too Big To Fail / Too Small To Succeed», die
