Dear Colleagues
Here is the latest on our upcoming conference in London. We have a jam packed 3 days and the main events are summarised below:
1. Free Exhibition and Information Day: 19 October the Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) will be hosting a free event at ExCeL, London, focusing on many of the issues relevant to people with dementia and everyone who supports them. For 21 years the DSDC has been raising awareness about dementia and striving to improve all aspects of care for people with dementia. This free event marks our 21st birthday and is suitable for everyone with an interest in dementia, with a particular focus on people with dementia and their carers/family members. (This is not aimed primarily at professional staff although they will be welcome to attend)
This is an opportunity for you to:
• learn about practical solutions for carers of people with dementia • find out about exciting developments taking place in dementia care and research • receive a free information goodie bag • learn more about the National Dementia Strategy • see new products that can improve the quality of life of people with dementia, including assistive technology products • get advice from experts and charities dealing with a range of dementia issues
It would be great if you could promote this to older people, people with dementia and their carers so they can attend this. We are aiming for up to 400 people at the event. We have hard copies of the flyers and all we need is a mailing list to get them out in your area, or we can send a batch for circulation.
2. International Dementia Excellence Awards: Also attached is a flyer for the International Dementia Excellence Awards www.ideawards.com Nominations for this are open until Friday 20.08.10 and it would be great if you could pass this on to people in your organisation who are doing good work in dementia care, to nominate themselves or their colleagues. It’s quick to do using the online form www.ideawards.com.
3. Coming of Age: Dementia in the 21st Century: 19-21st October 2010. It would be great to see your staff represented. This is a critical event for all those that work with dementia and it would be greatly appreciated if you could promote it widely. As you can see the programme is extensive and covers the major elements of the English Dementia Strategy. We also have additional Breakfast http://events.dementia.stir.ac.uk/breakfast-sessions and Lunchtime sessions http://events.dementia.stir.ac.uk/lunchtime-sessions, that you can read about via the website. I can offer a 10% discount to you for the conference using the code E2010. If you think that across your organisation there might be 5 or more bookings come back to me and I can see about a 15% reduction.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Eileen
