Hello,
Please excuse the cross-posting.
I am interested in staffing levels for electronic and continuing resource management teams at other academic libraries. For those of you with comparable collections (see below), would you share with me how many staff members (including hpw) are assigned to work with electronic resources and other continuing resources. Also, how many of those are librarians? Could you briefly describe what the responsibilities are for your team? The list below briefly describes the key responsibilities for our team. We do not (or at least try not to) handle ebook or ebook collection orders.
-receiving, paying and renewing periodicals and serials in all formats (electronic, print, cd, microfilm)
-resolve access issues with e-journals
-serials cataloging for print and electronic (except a few subject specific areas)
-monitoring of MarcIt loads
-renewing and paying invoices for databases
-SFX management (activations, de-activations, and assist in trouble shooting with assistance from outside the team)
-go-to person for usage stats, respond to problems with Scholarly Stats usage reports
-resolve database access problems
-resolve problems with database interface through admin center (openurl, branding, logos) or coordinate this with technology team
-assist or work with bibliographers to identify perpetual access opportunities in order to move titles online only
-often contacted to set up trials
-monitor publisher changes for license title list adjustments and SFX updates
-lead ongoing efforts to implement ERM (Verde)
-assist in monitoring and updating SFX based on KB reports
We currently have 5483 active print serial control records.
We have about 2800 active individual e-journal subscriptions and many package subscriptions, such as such as U of Chicago, e-Duke, Project Muse, BioOone, IOP Science, etc.
We use SFX as our link resolver and have 87609 unique objects to manage.
We manage payment and renewals of about 300 databases annually.
We do not handle resources for our Law or Biomedical libraries unless it is part of a system-wide purchase.
Thank you for any feedback you can offer.
