Hi,
The email below was sent to the CETIS Metadata list by the US Learning Registries project but i thought it might be of interest to members of the list as well (apologies if you've seen it there).
It is an invitation to contribute to a consultation about the visibility of educational content in search engines.
Given that many repositories (and related/ other systems) represented on the list will have considered how to make their content visible to search engines, I think this is a chance to contribute ideas about what search engines might do to better find repository content.
There is a focus on educational materials (but many of the technical questions are the same).
kind regards,
john

Subject: Your Ideas: What Could Search Engines Do (to Make Finding Educational Content Easier)?
Hi Folks
The Learning Registry activity (http://www.learningregistry.org/) is soliciting public input on what a commercial search engine could do to help find learning content.
General information about the request is at:
http://www.learningregistry.org/news/yourideaswhatcouldsearchenginesdotomakefindingeducationalcontenteasier
The public information gathering is at:
http://learningregistry.ideascale.com/a/ideafactory.do?id=9751&mode=top&discussionFilter=byids&discussionID=23856
We're hoping to get a good set of input before the end of August.
Please help. Thanks.
Cheers.
- Dan
