Dear All,
Last chance - we urgently need input for the new
House of Commons Science and Technology Committee's
inquiry into "Scientific Advice and Evidence in
Emergencies", or, specifically, the Government's use of these.
Details are at
http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/science-and-technology-committee/inquiries/scientific-advice-in-emergencies/
We really need to pull our weight as UK geophysicists with
this powerful committee, and this is an excellent opportunity
because two of the four (actual or potential) emergencies on which they
are focusing are geophysical: the Icelandic volcanic ash eruptions; and
the potential emergency situations that solar storms could cause.
The BGA is putting in a submission, but we need those of
you who have expertise/experience in these fields to
write it. Please contact me urgently if you have any input.
Thanks!
Regards,
Sheila Peacock
British Geophysical Association.
