Aha - well pointed out Mimi!!
I should have explained more - my interest is
how imprisonment is experienced by people with physical and/or sensory
impairment (uk).
I've actually been working on this for years, and have written the chapter
on 'Disability in Prison' for The Prisons Handbook (ed Mark Leech) since
the early 2000s!
I know there must be some kind of organisation or similar as there is a
conference every year in the UK somewhere, but even though I am physically
disabled (wheelchair user) I don't really engage fully in groups or events or
anything really related to the disabled community so to speak - mainly
because of time and lack of transport/assistance - but that is something
different altogether.
Anyway, what this all boils down to, is that I am ashamedly and
regrettably ignorant and unaware of what is going on out there in the big wide world
of disability issues these days :0(
Many many grateful thanks to you and everybody else who has kindly offered
assitance with my original enquiry , much appreciated!!
all bestest
Jenny Parry
