Hi Ruth
I would say all of our clients are aware of their obligations under the SWMP regulations 2008 and SWMP (set-up and audit programmes) are now part of the standard services we provide on construction and remediation projects >£0.3M (with some additional requirements on projects >£0.5M). None of our projects have been inspected to date, but we have heard through the grapevine of some projects being inspected in the south east (no specifics I'm afraid) and it looks like Runnymede BC have now started inspection.
As the driving philosophy behind both SWMP and CLAIRE MMP CoP is the diversion of waste from landfill, there should be interaction between SWMP, MMP and (WRAP) recycled C&DW aggregates, with the SWMP recording soil materials reused under the MMP CoP, reused C&DW aggregates and materials disposed of as waste.
| think all these initiatives are positive steps forward and have helped formalise, standardise and improve many of the working methodologies previously implemented on remediation and construction sites. The overwhelming response to MMPs from our clients has been a positive one.
