Dear Marley Charles et al.
I am trying to find out this information myself by speaking during
the day to Susan Eppel, who is Secretary to the Membership and
Professional Training Board of the BPS one of whose functions is to
approve and/or advise about fee structures and the like. Officially
the deadline for setting the agenda for the September meeting of this
Board was last Friday 13th August, but Susan Eppel indicated that a
communication today from the Community Psychology section could be
considered.
The Plymouth group notified the Community Psychology list of this
deadline and one or two people posted suggestions about fees. I
think that the Plymouth group were right to notify people of this
issue, but the kinds of issues you raise have not been clarified as yet.
Some people no doubt feel that I am trying to undermine the
independence of the Community Psychology list, but in fact my
intentions are the opposite. I think that people want to join the
new section for very good reasons, and it would/could call the
Section into disrepute if people are unable to join it. I have also
e-mailed Professor Jim Orford for guidance, but he may be away.
When I obtain any further information today, I will put it on this
discussion list, straight away.
Erica Brostoff
