My client needs a tray to support his arms, other wise they'd fall onto
his lap. Not sure if that's a useable posture.

Hi Barry
We have an MD client who is successfully driving his wheelchair using
the
mini joystick (I take it you mean the one from HMC?). It rests between
his
thumb and forefinger and he drives very effectively with almost
imperceptible movements. Also he does not have it mounted through a tray
-
I'm not sure why this is a necessity?
My understanding of the finger in the hole joystick is that it is not
for
outside use as its affected by water?
Cheers

Dear all
I'm casting around for ideas following a trial with PS2 & Wii joysticks
for driving wheelchairs. Technically they work fine, but my client
doesn't have enough movement for them.
What are people using? He hasn't tried the DX mini, because so far, he
won't accept mounting it in a hole in the wheelchair tray. Does the 10g
deflection give us a better chance than the 50g of the Wii?
I don't think he's tried the DX "finger in the hole" joystick. Have
people had success with this in Muscular Dystrophy?
