Please note the following details of an imminent paper at the RSS and an
opportunity to contribute to the discussion thereof.
Mike Titterington
(as Chair of the RSS Research Section Committee).
====================================================
The paper "Riemann manifold Langevin and Hamiltonian Monte Carlo
methods" by Mark Girolami and Ben Calderhead will be presented to the
Royal Statistical Society at an Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday 13 October
2010 at 5pm. Interested parties can download the pdf directly from the
website www.rss.org.uk/preprints. The Society welcomes contributions to
the discussion following the presentation of the paper. If you would
like to contribute, you would be limited to five minutes' speaking time
at the meeting and subsequently to 400 words in the journal (Journal of
the Royal Statistical Society, Series B). It would be helpful if you
could let Abdel Khairoun (contact details below) know in advance so that
your name can be called. Please contact him on the telephone number
below or e-mail [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>. If you
cannot attend the meeting we would be happy to receive a written
contribution. The written version of such contributions is limited
strictly to 400 words in length (excluding reference details). Please
provide the following information at the beginning of your contribution:
* the author(s) and title of the paper under discussion.
* your name (including your title) and your affiliation, as you would
wish it to appear on your printed contribution, e.g. Dr X, University of
Y, City Z.
* a full address where you wish to receive the proofs of your
contribution for checking (proofs will be sent out approximately three
months after the meeting)
You are not obliged to submit your written contribution before the
meeting but if you do it may be read out for discussion during the
meeting if there is time.
After the meeting, contributions may be submitted for publication by
sending a paper copy or pdf file direct to Abdel Khairoun at the
Society's address until Wednesday 27 October 2010. This deadline is
important (i) for the authors of the paper who will consider all the
contributions and compose a reply, in limited time; and (ii) for the
production of the journal.
Following the meeting there will be a free wine reception which will be
open to everyone. If you would like to attend, it would be helpful for
catering purposes if you could let the Society know by sending an email
to [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
