Hi Simon,
I am afraid it might be you.
I get dns2.rhbnc.ac.uk in the authority section, not dns2.rhul.ac.uk:
;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
rhul.ac.uk. 39373 IN NS dns2.rhbnc.ac.uk.
rhul.ac.uk. 39373 IN NS dns3.rhbnc.ac.uk.
;; ADDITIONAL SECTION:
dns2.rhbnc.ac.uk. 24647 IN A 134.219.101.211
dns3.rhbnc.ac.uk. 24647 IN A 134.219.101.212
It does seem to work intermittedly though, it worked at least once this morning.
localhost:dbauer :-> host storage001.ppgrid1.rhul.ac.uk
storage001.ppgrid1.rhul.ac.uk has address 134.219.225.21
localhost:dbauer :-> host 134.219.225.21
Host 21.225.219.134.in-addr.arpa not found: 2(SERVFAIL)
