Reaching into the PAST! African Heritage & Education Centre.
AHEC has won funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to pioneer an exciting
new project called PAST.
The PAST project aims to collect and collate experiences and memories of
Jamaicans, Nigerians and Ghanaians who arrived in the UK in the 1940s and
60s and settled or worked in the three 2012 London Olympics Boroughs of
Waltham Forest, Newham and Hackney.
AHEC Director Christine Borsah explained: "This oral history project will
provide a fabulous archive of memories from Africans who helped to shape
these boroughs at a key period in British history. It will be a fascinating
living testament to the valuable contributions of African people in shaping
modern British culture."
Anyone who has any contributions or queries about the PAST project should
