Good, so it's not that, which leaves:

That would suggest you don't have the X11 development libraries installed:
% rpm -qf /usr/include/X11/Xft/Xft.h
xorg-x11-devel-6.8.2-1.EL.52.i386
I'd have thought that error would have been seen before the BLT build (in
Tk).
