Dear All,
Collections Trust CEO Nick Poole has been elected Chair of the Europeana Council of Content Providers and Aggregators, a cross-domain group which supports Creative & Cultural Industry organisations throughout the EU in sharing their digital collections via the Europeana portal.
Europeana is funded by the European Commission to bring together and make available the online collections of thousands of museums, archives, libraries, publishers and other content providers throughout the EU. The purpose of the Council is to identify and create new opportunities for partnership between Europeana and the Cultural and Creative Industries.
Speaking at the Board meeting of the Europeana Foundation in Frankfurt, Nick Poole commented: ‘It is a tremendous honour to have been elected as Chair of the Council of Content Providers and Aggregators. Europeana is both an important technical innovation and an opportunity to celebrate European cultural identity and creativity. As we move towards the Olympics in 2012, it is great to be able to bring together commercial and public organisations across the international community and to work towards greater intercultural understanding through our shared creative output.’
Nick will Chair the Council of Content Providers and Aggregators for a period of two years. Alongside him, Anne Bergman of the Federation of European Publishers will stand as Vice-chair and Henning Scholz of the European Biodiversity Library will act as Secretary. With kind regards,
