Three vacancies in the Learning and Research Support Services Team
Copyright and Digital Resources Adviser. Part time (0.6 FTE) permanent post
Starting salary from £28.983
This post will work alongside other members of the Learning and Research Support Team supporting and advising academic staff on compliance and clearance issues associated with the use and embedding of information resources within the VLE, for course packs and elsewhere. The post will be involved in training and advocacy work to extend staff understanding of copyright and compliance issues and with the development of in-house resources for teaching and training purposes, including those associated with support for researchers.
Researcher Training Resource Developer. Full time fixed term contract post until 31 July 2012
Starting salary from £28.983
This full time contract post will join the Researcher Development Team. The post will work on the development of the collection of web-based learning materials to support researchers in their personal, professional and career development. The role will involve researching, identifying and evaluating freely available and commercial resources, including (but not restricted to) those within national and international open educational resource repositories editing and repurposing resources and contributing to in house resource development. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the team's face-to-face workshop programme.
Senior Library Assistant (Learning and Research Support) REF 7732 Full time permanent post.
Starting salary from £20,938
This post will work within the Learning and Research Support Team, reporting to the Copyright and Digital Resources Adviser, and supporting the wide ranging work of the Academic Liaison Librarians and Learning Developers. Main duties will include administrative support for liaison about reading lists working with academic staff and staff in Resources and Systems teams. Participation in the preparation of information skills teaching materials, assisting training and teaching sessions delivered by the Learning and Research Support staff, providing one-to-one support for students and researchers by contributing to service point rotas and supporting drop in
One vacant post to support the Songdo Global Alliance Project.
The fourth post is a short term contract post to support the feasibility phase of an international project to develop a university campus in Songdo, South Korea. The Library work strand will investigate issues connected with the development of library services. Surrey's feasibility phase is scheduled to last 12 months with a gateway review at the end of January 2011, at which point a decision will be taken on whether to go ahead with the project. The post is therefore established until 31st January in the first instance.
Senior Project Officer Songdo Global Campus Project (REF 7735) Full time fixed term contract post until 31 January 2011

The South Korean Government has provided planning funding to a number of US and European institutions, including University of Surrey to investigate development and support for an overseas campus based in the newly created city of Songdo, South Korea. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a project to scope the library services required for this development.
The Senior Project Officer will work with the Director of Library and Learning Support Services and with senior managers to investigate models for delivery of library services from new campus library. This will involve gathering information about library shared service provision elsewhere and investigation into e-resource delivery models and associated licensing issues. The post will involve some travel to investigate options and meet with partners.
