Hi
I had a bit of a stumbling block with this issue on a volunteer project
where we were hoping to display some web mapping... - it was only to
show a points layer lifted off one of the landmark layers. OS told me
there were some APIs that I could use, (e.g. bing maps)- but that they
really didn't like Googles T&C's and wouldn't let any OS derived data be
shown on google maps... It would be useful to know if this has recently
changed - as I would rather like to use google maps and it would make it
simple to get moving again.
All the best,
miles

Hi John
Looks good. Out of interest, how have you got around the Ordnance Survey
+ Google Maps problem? (i.e. OS does not permit overlaying "OS-derived"
data into Google Maps)?
Yours
Crispin

Hello all
Forum members may be interested in a recently-launched characterisation
web site for the whole of the city of Lincoln - Heritage Connect - which
is the online version of the Lincoln Townscape Assessment.
http://www.heritageconnectlincoln.com/
Using Google Maps, it is very much place/GIS based, with the whole city
divided into 108 'Character Areas', showing detailed information about
each one using maps, photos, written descriptions and (for a selection
of areas) videos. As well as finding out about these areas, users have
the chance to add to the site, giving their memories or comments and
uploading their own pictures.
When accessed from a smartphone (iPhone, Android etc) the site takes on
a more compact appearance and uses GPS positioning to direct the user
straight to their nearest Character Areas, so areas can be explored on
the move
Most of the information is presented via each Character Area, with:
Description (which contains the elements of the Character Area Statement
- Overview, Historical Development, Urban Form, Views, Condition of
Buildings and Streetscape, Use, Relationship to City and surrounding
areas and Key Townscape Characteristics), Related Information (including
abridged Monument entries from the Lincoln Heritage Database (formerly
UAD), archaeological research agenda zones (from LARA - the Lincoln
Archaeological Research Assessment), Ecological Areas, and Views.

There is also a Lincoln Citywide section.
Information about the background and funding for the project is in the
About and Acknowledgements sections, and the project leader, Adam
Partington, Townscape Characterisation Projects Manager, City of Lincoln
Council, would be pleased to receive any feedback
