You are warmly invited to the opening of ‘Offit’ – a new exhibition merging performance and video inspired by the changing face of Salford, home to Media City UK.
Opening - July 22 6.00pm.
HubM3, Unit 3 Riverside Salford M3 5FS

Artists Lois Klassen from Vancouver, Canada, and the University of Salford’s Mary Oliver have come together to create ‘Offit’, an exhibition which combines performance art, video installation and interactivity.
The exhibition opens on 23 July at Salford’s newest gallery, HubM3, an empty shop which has been taken over as a gallery space by the University of Salford’s School of Art & Design in conjunction with partners from across the city.
During their six-week residency, the artists have been exploring the locale specific to the gallery, which is just on the border of Salford and Manchester. As travellers and explorers the artists are considering the imbalance caused by the presence of cultural production in urban spaces.
'Offit' - Salford vernacular for 'not on it', out of sorts, or not quite right, is an installation in which the visitor finds themselves confronted with things that are 'Offit - not on it'. This exhibition asks: does art produce a condition of offit? and is this a useful condition from which to view the process of urban regeneration?
The exhibition is extended through an ‘Offit Offsite’ event that includes one-to-one performances from emerging performance artists. Through this exhibition the public is invited to see the work and talk about making and presenting art in Salford. ‘Offit Offsite’ Conversations - Sunday, July 25 2.00pm. The artists invite the public out for coffe, tea and conversation about the emergence of art in a community facing renewal. Meet at Hub M3 from where the artist will lead the group to local sites of conversation.

Mary Oliver is a performance artist who is involved in making digital performance works that bring impossible relationships to the live performance space. Her interactive experiments have now moved into the field of HCI.
