Hi Talat,

I think it would be helpful to have a discussion on the DRIVER 2.0 guidelines and also on the OpenAire upcoming ones. Digital repositories are becoming more and more important and it would be great if the group could elaborate a list of steps (as a recommendation) in order for digital repositories to achieve DCMI level 4 of interoperability. What do you think?

We're currently thinking about whether or not to hold a meeting at the DCMI conference in Pittsburgh, which is not far off now. Does anybody on this list have any suggestions for what might be discussed at such a meeting? We would like to refocus the community and list in a way that is of most benefit to its members, probably including changes to its charter. The current charter specifically mentions SWAP, and perhaps otherwise needs some modernisation. It is very broad in scope:

If we don't have a clear idea of what would be discussed in Pittsburgh, we will not be able to justify holding such a meeting. If we are simply talking about re-focussing the group, I suggest that we would have to be fairly confident amongst ourselves that it will in future be more active and beneficial to its members than it has recently been.

Does this strike members of the community to be appropriate or inappropriate? Would anybody else be interested in becoming a moderator, perhaps in order to provide a wider perspective and direction for the group?
