Hi all,
A friend asked me if I can refer them to me any articles explaining the
Egyptian casting process, particularly the interior bulk metal. They
have a tomography images of an approx. 14th century BC Egyptian gold
plated bronze figurine of ISIS, taken using synchrotron radiation. They
observed the metal bulk and the plaster coating on the metal to which
the gilding was applied. However, they are also seeing lots of circular
spheres or voids in the images. They appear to be of very low density.
The question is what are these and how did they occur?
Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
All the best,
Ann
