> This role offers an experienced statistician/epidemiologist the
> opportunity to provide specialised advice and support to the
> internationally renowned General Practice Research Database (GPRD)

> Key responsibilities will include:
> * Assisting in the design, specification and interpretation of
> epidemiological studies from a specialised statistical standpoint.
> Providing advice and support to colleagues regarding the appropriate
> use and application of advanced statistical techniques
> * Data management (creation of study datasets out of GPRD data)
> * Conducting complex statistical analyses of large electronic
> observational GP datasets
> * Developing, specifying and disseminating novel methodologies for
> multi-database analysis

> The successful applicant will have:
> * a doctorate level degree or equivalent in statistics or epidemiology
> and a demonstrably high level and up to date understanding of advanced
> epidemiological and statistical techniques
> * a significant publication history in internationally renowned
> journals in both developing and applying complex statistical
> methodologies
> * experience of providing comprehensive epidemiological consultancy
> regarding observational databases
> * refined analytical thinking and the ability to understand, resolve
> and communicate complex statistical issues
> * a proven ability to programme in both SAS and Stata with regard to
> analysis and data management
> * good interpersonal and leadership skills and a highly motivated
> proactive approach
> * excellent presentation skills with a record of disseminating
> research
>
> The successful applicant will be predominantly based at home
> (international applications welcome) and will benefit from flexible
> hours.

> biostatisticians and doctors working with the world's largest
> computerised database of anonymised longitudinal medical records from
> primary care that is linked with other healthcare data. The database
> is the most comprehensive source of data of its kind and is used
> worldwide for medical and public health research by the pharmaceutical
> industry, clinical research organisations, regulators, government
> departments and leading academic institutions.
