There is a proposal to set up a new Q&A website for statistical
analysis and data mining issues. I think this would be very useful for
a lot of questions that researchers have, which don't always get
answered (at least not well). For it to go ahead, we need enough
people prepared to participate in the site. We already have more than
300 people who have agreed to be involved, but we need another couple
of hundred for it to go ahead and be viable.
Please go to http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/33/statistical-analysis?share=1
if you are willing to be involved.
For more information, there is a nice summary of what it is all about at
http://www.r-statistics.com/2010/06/a-new-qa-website-for-data-analysis-based-on-stackoverflow-engine-is-waiting-for-you/
Of course, many real problems need much more than the sort of answer
that can be offered on a site like this. But for basic questions it
can be very useful, especially for researchers and data analysts who
don't have access to a good statistical consulting service.
