Dear all
Apologies for cross posting.
UCL have advertised the post of Head of Student Systems which may be of interest, details below:
Registry Information and Data Services (RIDS)
Head of Student Systems
£50,700 to £55,142 per annum including London Allowance
Since 2005, UCL has implemented a Student Information Service (SITS Vision - branded PORTICO within the institution). The Service is used by staff and students across the UCL community through a client interface, but mainly through a web portal. UCL has an ambitious programme of development for Portico, primarily through the development of the portal, with the emphasis on enhancing the student experience.
UCL has also implemented a Common Timetable structure and the process by which this timetable is constructed year on year is being transferred to Portico Services to support.
Reporting to the Director of RIDS, the Head of Student Systems is a senior manager within the RIDS department and is responsible for the management of the Portico Services staff and for the delivery of support for the ongoing, day-to-day operation of the Portico Service.
Working with the Director of RIDS, the Portico Programme Manager and the user community, you will play a pivotal role in planning the development strategy for Portico, preparing business cases and producing funding bids for future projects. Together with UCL Programme Management and internal and external suppliers, you will plan resources, ensure that projects deliver, and that there is a successful transition of new services into the supported operational service. You will also lead the process for the construction of the Common Timetable.
Your career will have given you a substantial background in management in Higher Education or a similar environment. You will be required to demonstrate strong leadership, communication and organisation skills, including the ability to manage a complex workload. You will have a high level of analytical skills in order to manage competing end-user demands and time critical schedules.
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a complex organisation, to manage large-scale services or corporate projects, and to manage change.
You will be expected to focus on the needs of the customer in the provision of support and service delivery. Therefore, knowledge of managing and developing a highly-effective Helpdesk service is vital. Experience of managing the development and maintenance of student information systems - specifically SITS-Vision - is essential.
