Dear Colleagues:
This is a quick heads-up regarding a special session on subduction zone evolution for the upcoming Fall AGU meeting in San Francisco. Please consider submitting an abstract and contributing to this session. The abstract submission deadline is September 2.
Best regards,

V12: Metamorphic Perspectives of Subduction Zone Evolution
This session is devoted to understanding metamorphic evolution of subducting oceanic slabs and sediments and the slab-mantle interface (subduction channel). Petrological, geophysical, geochemical and theoretical perspectives are encouraged. Issues examined include (1) relationships among deformation, seismicity, devolatilization, fluid flow, and phase changes in subducting slabs, (2) geochemical and mechanical processes illuminated by exposed HP to UHP metamorphic rocks, (3) sources, sinks, and pathways (rates, element transport, and connections with arc magmatism), (4) nature, mechanical properties, and evolution of the subduction channel, and (5) phases and volatiles that survive subduction into the deeper mantle.
