Or....
Adrian Mitchell's poem, inspired by a radio announcer's mispronunciation
of Larkin's first line, is on this link:
http://www.billybragg.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=348&st=50.
Here it is:
They tuck you up, your Mum and Dad
They read you Peter Rabbit, too.
They give you all the treats they had
And add some extra, just for you.
They were tucked up they were small,
(Pink perfume, blue tobacco-smoke),
By those whose kiss healed any fall,
Whose laughter doubled any joke.
Man hands on happiness to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
So love your parents all you can
And have some cheerful kids yourself.

This Be The Verse
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you.
But they were fucked up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and
coats, Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another's
throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can, And don't have any kids yourself.

Subject: [victimisationagainstdisabledpeople] Johnny Andron a boy with
disability died of starvation weighing 48 lbs at age 10
An investigation by the Detroit Action News reports that one year after
ten-year old, disabled, Johnny Andron (weighing 120 lbs) was removed
from
his mother--who sought help--and was placed in a Michigan state foster
care
facility, he died of starvation, weighing 48 lbs.

Future generations who will examine current public polices pertaining to
the
care of children, will deem the United States of America morally
bankrupt.
State and federal policies are designed to enrich the foster care system
while undermining the welfare of children and families: state policies
encourage the removal of children from loving parents who need support
to
care for children with special needs. Instead of support, such children
are
being dumped into state foster care where, more often than not, they are
neglected, abused, routinely prescribed brain damaging drugs, and even
starved to death.
"According to the state's own figures, the federal government gave
Michigan
about $110 million last year for foster care. That's compared to the $26
million in programs that help parents keep their kids. Foster facilities
also have an incentive to keep kids away from their parents. In Andron's
case, the foster home got about $12,000 a month from the state for
Johnny."

A series of riveting reports by Carol Marbin Miller of the Miami Herald,
focused on twelve-year old, Denis Matez, a human casualty of
psychotropic
drug "overmedication."
His young life was extinguished by a lethal cocktail of drugs--which
included two antipsychotic drugs prescribed at mega doses--Eli Lilly's
Zyprexa and AstraZeneca's Seroquel. These drugs' manufacturers were
successfully prosecuted by the US Attorney for deceptive, illegal
marketing
practices that promoted these unsafe drugs for unapproved uses.
The lethal combination of drugs were prescribed for the boy by a state
licensed psychiatrist in the Florida public mental health sector, who
was
entrusted with the care of 800 children in foster care--even as he
disregarded "hundreds of letters" from the state suggesting that he
change
his prescribing practices.
In April, 2009, another Florida child, 7-year-old, Gabriel Myers, hanged
himself months after being drugged with a lethal psychotropic drug
cocktail--including several antipsychotics and antidepressants. Gabriel
hanged himself.

SAVING SENIORS FROM SCAMS, SCHEMES AND SWINDLES
The National Adult Protective Services Association Announces
THE FIRST NATIONAL SUMMIT ON ELDER FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2010
Westin Gaslamp Hotel, San Diego California
The Problem
a.. Four million persons will turn 60 every year for the next 18
years.
a.. Because older persons in the United States control at least
70% of the nation's household net worth, in the value of their homes as
well as in other assets, they are frequent targets for exploitation, not
only by scam artists, but also by their own family members and
"friends," who defraud them of billions of dollars annually through
theft, fraud, deception, undue influence and schemes of every variation.
a.. Numerous government agencies, industry programs and consumer
protection organizations address elder financial exploitation in their
own spheres of influence, but no one has brought together all the
stakeholders to learn from each other and how to work together to
effectively tackle these issues.
a.. Adult Protective Services (APS) Programs are directly
involved with victims of elder financial exploitation and work with
various stakeholders to protect victims; to prevent exploitation, to
prosecute offenders and to educate older persons.
The Summit: A Search for Solutions
NAPSA will host the very first national summit to address the
growing crisis of elder financial exploitation to:
a.. Examine the issue in its many and varied manifestations.
a.. Bring together federal and state regulators, the financial
services industry, police and prosecutors, consumer advocates, and Adult
Protective Services to learn what role each plays in addressing elder
financial exploitation.
a.. Strategize on how BEST to coordinate information, strategies
and tactics to strengthen the prevention, identification and prosecution
of elder financial abuse through presentations of innovative and
successful best practices.
a.. As November 11 is Veterans Day, we will have a special
observance to honor older veterans.
Stakeholder Partners and Sponsors are Welcome!
a.. Current Sponsors & Partners Include: Western Union Global
Consumer Protection Program - Coalition to End Senior Financial Abuse
(CEASE) - Women's Institute for a Secure Retirement (WISER) - CA
Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR) and More Coming!
