The Department of Tourism (School of Business) at the University of Otago invites applications for an academic vacancy at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level. Outstanding applicants may be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor. This vacancy offers applicants the opportunity to join the staff of the well established and internationally recognised Department of Tourism, at the University of Otago - New Zealand’s top ranked university for research (http://www.otago.ac.nz/research/pbrf/index.html).
Applicants for the position of Lecturer must hold a PhD in tourism or a related field and have a demonstrated ability to publish in peer reviewed outlets, including mid to high quality academic journals. Teaching experience and a capacity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research are also central to the position being advertised. Those seeking appointment at the level of Senior Lecturer must hold a PhD and have a demonstrated record of publication in high quality academic journals, as well as excellent teaching and supervision experience.
The University of Otago is located in the city of Dunedin (South Island, Aotearoa/New Zealand). Dunedin offers an outstanding quality of life, temperate climate, and close proximity to Queenstown, Central Otago Lakes, ski fields and New Zealand’s alpine National Parks.
The preferred starting date for the successful applicant will be January 2011 (start date will be open to negotiation).
