Hello all (and apologies again for cross-posting),
Towards Carfree Cities IX starts in exactly three weeks. We invite you to join us for this international gathering of experts, practitioners and campaigners dedicated to promoting sustainable alternatives to car-based planning.
Registration is closing in two weeks on 20 June, so do please submit the form and complete payment as soon as possible: http://www.worldcarfree.net/conference/regform.php
With the theme ‘How Do We Get There?’, the conference will
focus on bringing carfree communities to life, considering a range of
strategies including European models of new carfree development.
Thursday 1 July is Professionals' Day, with presentations and workshops aimed towards planners, urban designers, developers, architects and other professionals. The aim is to enable delegates to implement carfree development or more generally minimise car dependence in their projects and municipalities.
The conference is the ninth in an international series launched in 1997, and the first time it is coming to the UK. It is hosted by Carfree UK and sponsored by The Co-operative Membership.
We're very happy with the positive reactions we've been receiving on the programme (http://www.worldcarfree.net/conference/programme_full.php) and we think you'll get a lot out of it. Do have a look for yourself.
We hope to see you in three weeks!
