Possible yes, easy maybe not, but if you're game get the following
tarball:
http://astro.dur.ac.uk/~pdraper/test/gaia-4.4-1.tar.gz
and unpack it somewhere. Now assuming you have a non-relocated Starlink
installation (i.e. installed at the place it was built for, true for all
OS X as far as I know), do:
% cd gaia-4.4-1
% ./configure --prefix=$STARLINK_DIR STARLINK=$STARLINK_DIR FC=gfortran
(or g95 if appropriate, that FC= part may not be needed for you).
% make
and if all has gone well:
% make install
(maybe a good idea to backup $STARLINK_DIR/bin/gaia first).
We always intended to be able to do this for individual packages, but as
far as I know this is almost completely untested these days.
