Quick thought, have you done an upgrade of libiconv?
sudo port upgrade libiconv
In /opt/local/lib I have:
[caa@nox ~/hh24mos]% dir /opt/local/lib/libiconv*
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 918 Jun 23 21:32 /opt/local/lib/
libiconv.la
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 1065668 Jun 23 21:32 /opt/local/lib/
libiconv.2.dylib
-rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 1079312 Jun 23 21:32 /opt/local/lib/
libiconv.a
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 16 Jun 23 21:32 /opt/local/lib/
libiconv.dylib@ -> libiconv.2.dylib
