Dear SimSoc list members,

CROSSROAD is a EU funded project which aims to deliver a research roadmap on ICT for Governance and Policy Modelling. Lasting the whole year of 2010, CROSSROAD will create a shared vision to support policy research and research implementation in this field. The methodology consists of four phases: state-of-the-art in the domain, scenario building, gap analysis, and roadmapping. Up to now, visions have been described through scenarios, which detail governments and governance, society and economics, as well as the interaction based on modern information and communication technology in the years to come. In the current phase of the project, gaps of current RTD in the domain of ICT for Governance and Policy Modelling have been identified based on a comparative analyis of state-of-the-art results and visionary scenarios. The resulting list of gaps shall support the development of a research roadmap for the domain. This roadmap will be considered for the preparation of future Work Programmes of the European Commission in FP7.

Obviously one of the gaps that will be identified is the use of simulation and, particularly, agent-based simulation in policy modelling.

This is why it might be useful for simulationists and, of course, for the CROSSROAD project to participate in an online survey in order to assess the gaps identified so far. Please use the following link to access the online questionnaire:
http://crossroad.epu.ntua.gr/consultation-systems/online-gap-analysis-consultation-questionnaire/
The questionnaire will take about 15 minutes to be completed, depending on how precise and detailed you want to be in your answers.

Your most valuable feedback and input on the gaps shall help to meet the above mentioned objectives.

On the basis of the identified gaps, the online consultation aims at elaborating the following questions:

-	Do you share the view on the gaps of current RTD identified within the project in respect to ICT for Governance and Policy modelling?

-	Which gaps would you stress based on your expertise, and why do you think these are most prevailing?

Basic material for you to complete the online questionnaire is foremost the Initial Gap Analysis Report. Hence, we kindly ask you to read chapters 3 and 4 of the deliverable D3.1 first - which include the detailed gap descriptions - and then answer the questionnaire by using above mentioned link. If you want to learn more about the current status and future visions in the field please see the State of the Art report and the Scenario report, as gaps were identified between current research and needs identified from the scenarios. The three reports are available for download at the project website:

http://crossroad.epu.ntua.gr/public-materia/deliverables/ .

The online questionnaire will be available only for registered users at the project website. Hence, we kindly ask you to register at the website. After registration please go to consultation systems and then to gap analysis questionnaire.
The questionnaire will be run until 10th July 2010.

Further information regarding the project CROSSROAD is available at the official project website:

http://crossroad.epu.ntua.gr/ .

If you have any questions regarding the organisation of the online consultation or the project, please do not hesitate to contact Melanie Bicking at University of Koblenz-Landau via email: [log in to unmask]

Thanks for reading this long invitation!

Klaus G. Troitzsch, on behalf of the colleagues in charge of the survey within the CROSSROAD project.
