Dear colleagues
You will have seen Jill Nelmes' call at the end of May for articles for the fourth issue of the 'Journal of Screenwriting' (2.2), to be submitted by the end of September 2010.
Jill's email was very detailed, so all I would like to point up is our emphasis on the historical, in this issue. We are not limited to that, of course, but the re-discovery of past and forgotten practices, of successful screenwriters who have disappeared from view, and of issues that were submerged or invisible at the time (such as gender, race and orientation) seem to us to be so much part of the investigation of screenwriting as an emerging academic discpline, that we expect there to be considerable interest in such topics.
Whatever your particular interest in screenwriting, I'd like to encourage you to contribute to this already very successful journal. Please do get in touch if you are thinking of submitting something and are unsure about whether it is relevant, or want to discuss how you might approach it. Either Jill or I will be happy to discuss it with you.
And we look forward to seeing you (again!) in Copenhagen in September.
With best wishes
Ian
