FIVE YEAR LECTURESHIP IN ASTRONOMY
UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM
An academic post at the Lecturer level, currently funded for five years,
is available at the University of Nottingham as part of the second phase
of the Midlands Physics Alliance. This HEFCE-supported initiative is
developing collaborative research and graduate teaching between the
neighbouring universities of Nottingham, Birmingham and Warwick, and the
second phase of the program is expanding the collaboration into the
field of astronomy.
This appointment will build on the strengths of the Nottingham Astronomy
Group in the study of galaxy formation, evolution and structure.
Candidates whose research complements the current interests of the
Group, in both theory and observation, are encouraged to apply. An
interest, and preferably experience, in teaching at undergraduate and/or
postgraduate level is also important.
Informal inquiries related to the post can be made to Professor Michael
Merrifield ([log in to unmask]). Information on the
Astronomy Group can be found at http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/astronomy/.
Further details of the post, together with information on the on-line
application procedure, can be found via http://jobs.nottingham.ac.uk/.
Please include a CV, a summary statement of your research and teaching
interests, and the names and contact details of three referees with your
application. The closing date for applications is 1st September 2010.
