*This Saturday 12 June at Perth Poetry Club*

Perth Poetry Club gets philosophical (more than usual?!) on Sat 12 June with
JO CLARKE (well-known at Voicebox and Fringe Gallery) and JONOTHON TWIST
(well known at poetry slams; vocal and enigmatic on Facebook). 2-4pm at The
Moon, 323 William Street, Northbridge. Plus OPEN MIC with professional
sound. It's been going off lately. Come and hang out.

After approximately five years spent meditating and arm-chair philosophizing
among the various ghettos and slums of Perth, Jonothon emerged from his
self-imposed exile brimming with inspiration, ready to enter the artistic
community of Perth. So in 2009 he applied for, and gained entrance to
Murdoch university to study Philosophy and Journalism, published a Zine,
joined a band; joined the Perth Poetry Club and was subsequently published
in the online Creatrix Poetry Journal, and when he was informed that he
would be given a feature spot in one of the Poetry Club's Saturday meetings,
he decided to put together a small collection of his poetry to mark the
occasion. He calls his first chapbook: paterNoster.

*Josephine Clarke* lives and writes in Fremantle. Her short stories and
poetry focus [image: Jo Clarke]on both the domestic and natural world and
have been published in indigo, Blue Giraffe, Thirst, Creatrix and Eureka
Street; her poetry was shortlisted in the 2006 Wet Ink poetry competition.
In 2009, she collaborated with visual artist, Sara Clarke, to combine words
and paintings in an exhibition held at the Moore's Gallery, Fremantle. Jo
Clarke was President of Out of the Asylum (OOTA) writers' group from
2006-2009.

*Next week 19 June at Perth Poetry Club*

*Randall $tephens is the last angry man -- he was the first one too.

*

**

*He doesn't suffer fools, doesn't ride a bike without brakes, doesn't get
stuck in traffic, doesn't use phrases like 'l-o-l', doesn't tell people
about his new kettle on facebook. He doesn’t believe in fairies.*

*
*

**

*He writes poetry about dinosaurs, cycling, being angry, being happy,
travel, and sex at inappropriate times. He performs. Well.*

*He’s on his way.*

Indeed. He's a Melbourne poet, his hat is infamous, his words are loud, and
he'll be here on 19 June. And he's bringing along, for our, and his,
listening pleasure...

*Steve Smart. *A poet who has a fan page on facebook that was *created by
som**eone else*. A poet whose name means Melbourne Poetry to anyone who
knows. **Co-founder of the Overload Festival. Winner of slams.
Self-publisher of two CDs and at least six zines. A presentation style
that's almost violent in its nakedness. A completely original voice,
informed by everything from Bill Hicks to Laverne & Shirley to love & death
to Tasmanian forest blockades.**

Last year when Steve performed for us at The Court the crowd was so big that
the following week we were moved to a different room.

* These guys are doing two features each. Be early if you want a seat.*

**Steve Smart and Randall Stephens. 19 June. 2010. At the Moon. 2-4pm. Plus
open mike. 323 William.

Miss *this* without a really good excuse (like, your mum died) and The
Underlords of Evil Tonsil will--- I was going to say we would come round to
your hovel and disembowel you with our biros, but we wouldn't want to waste
the ink on someone so foolish.
