A meeting is in process. Madam Chair
reads out indications of what she finds
acceptable. Trivia and pointlessness
make most of it. Nothing’s to be decided
which could change anything into useful.
She puts to silence those who might argue,
still enjoying her little snatched control;
and some agree it is justifiable.
All speak only to complement
the de facto power. They find her calm
favourable to reaching difficult decisions.
They have risked several. They shall do some more.
Such details have been written down somewhere.
There’s nothing controversial. All is well.

Bartender: You really think the world's gonna end?
Ford: Yes.
Bartender: Shouldn't we lie down? Put paper bags over our heads or something?
Ford: If you like.
Bartender: Would it help?
Ford: Not at all.
