2-year post-doctoral position in
Computational Optimization
at EPSRC and SFC funded
Centre for Numerical Algorithms and Intelligent Software (NAIS)
http://www.nais.org.uk/
Successful candidate will join the Edinburgh Research Group
in Optimization ( http://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/ERGO/ )
at the School of Mathematics, Edinburgh University.
The position is available from September 2010.
The project will involve development of theory and implementation
of very large scale optimization techniques and their implementation
on high performance computing platforms. Specific interests may
include (but are not limited to) hierarchical, stochastic and
PDE-constrained optimization, development of linear algebra
techniques of optimization, use of iterative methods and design
of suitable preconditioners for linear algebra techniques
of optimization.
Successful applicant will have completed a PhD in Optimization
or a related field of computational mathematics, may have 1 or 2
years of postdoctoral research experience and will demonstrate
outstanding research potential. Expertise in mathematical
programming techniques is important and experience of development
of software for high performance computing platforms would be
an advantage.
