Thanks Paul

I observed the images in the Control Room and it is impossible to pick up any text from documents or event the leaflets on the wall!

Security do not have the OH Dept on rotational view. The Oh camera is in a locked file & images are viewed only in the eventuality of an adverse incident.

Best regards

Priscilla

Dear all,

We have cameras in communal landing areas around our department and also in one of our off-site premises linked to our main hospital security. Our GU services have cameras in main entrances too.

I cannot see a problem with confidentiality as long as they do not pick up individual clients records or record consultations.

Security operatives should have signed confidentiality agreements as part of their contracts.

Who has access to the images and what are they used for, If there is recording how long is it kept for etc.

In most cases attendance in OH is a personal matter, And the surveillance officers or others need to recognise, That these patient's confidentiality is important.

Could you imaging the uproar if CCTV was put up outside GU or family planning?

We are keen to receive feedback on our service provision. If I or any of our team has provided you with an excellent service we would like to know. Equally if you believe that our service has been less than excellent we would also like to hear from you. We can then ensure that we fulfil our commitment to ongoing improvement.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] security cameras in Occ Health Depts

Good morning All

We have a security camera installed in our OH waiting room. This area is also a thoroughfare for another department so many people who pass through are not OH clients. The camera points directly at the reception area and scans part of the waiting room, but not the seated area.

The admin team and I don't have a problem with this at all, given that there are surveillance cameras almost everywhere within the business (except washrooms and changing rooms of course!).

Does anyone know if there are any confidentiality issues with this? One of our team seems to think so.

Many thanks

Priscilla
