> New Applications of Electrostatic Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry
> Universal Velocity Map Imaging with Femtosecond Strong Field
Ionization
A position is available in the Suits Group at Wayne State University
beginning Sept 1, 2010 (see http://chem.wayne.edu/suitsgroup/suitsgroup/index.html)
with a focus on the following areas:
A unique new tandem mass spectrometer based on coupled electrostatic
ion traps has been developed for studies of reaction dynamics and
spectroscopy, see http://chem.wayne.edu/suitsgroup/suitsgroup/CoupledTraps/public_html/index.html
.
A new approach to slice ion imaging suitable for "universal" product
detection is under development. This approach will make use of a new K-
M Wyvern Laser providing 3.5 mJ, 45 fs pulses at 1 kHz.
The position offers a salary of $42,000 per year and includes generous
health benefits, etc. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in physical
chemistry, chemical physics or a related field, and experience in some
combination of the following areas: ion trap technology, instrument
design, mass spectrometry applications and development, and ultrafast
laser technology and applications, as evidenced by published work.
The position is only available to US citizens or permanent residents.
Potential applicants should send a CV and arrange for three letters of
recommendation to be sent to [log in to unmask]
