A postdoctoral opening is present in the group of Mark A. Smith, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Planetary Science, Lunar and Planetary Lab at the University of Arizona. The position can begin as early as August 1, 2010 and is for one year, renewable and includes full benefits. The position centers around our studies of the complex organic chemistry in the gas and aerosol haze of Saturn’s moon, Titan. In the Tucson laboratory we use very high resolution mass spectrometry to investigate the structural chemistry of aerosol haze analogues and tunable electron beam irradiation of atmospheric gases to investigate the role of energetic particles in driving complex organic formation.
Applicants should have a strong background in instrumental science, physical organic chemistry, chemical physics and/or photochemistry. Interested applicants should apply to Mark A. Smith, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry: [log in to unmask] and have 3 independent letters of reference sent. The position will be open until filled.
