Head of Academic Services
As a member of the Library's Senior Management Team, reporting to the
Director, you will make a significant contribution to the overall
strategy, planning and management of the department. Specifically, you
will provide direction and leadership for our academic services, which
include: liaison with faculties and other key departments; management of
our print and electronic resource collections; implementation of the
department's research support strategy; and the provision of support for
the development of academic skills at all levels.
You will have substantial post-qualification experience, ideally
including significant experience of managing/supporting academic
services, preferably gained in higher education libraries. You will be
able to demonstrate success in leading diverse teams, and will have
considerable experience of staff management Proven achievement in the
field of learning and teaching, as well as a clear understanding of the
research agenda in HE.
Well-developed leadership and decision-making skills, and a proactive
approach to service development are essential, as is a commitment to
meeting customer needs.
Academic Team Manager
The library service has a reputation for excellence in the support of
learning, teaching and research and you will play a key part in this
work. The vacancy combines leadership of our information literacy
teaching across all faculties with management of the Creative Industries
team of subject librarians and support staff (for the faculties of Art &
Design, Humanities and Technology) within the Academic Services Team.
You will have significant post-qualification experience in a library and
information service, preferably gained in higher education libraries.
Proven achievement in the field of learning and teaching, in particular
the successful design, delivery and evaluation of information literacy
would be an advantage Experience of managing staff is essential.
Well-developed leadership skills and a proactive approach to service
development are essential, as is a commitment to meeting customer needs.
These two posts are available for up to 12 months from 1st September
2010, or until the permanent postholder returns.
