RSC journal Energy & Environmental Science tops category with first ever impact factor of 8.50
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
RSC Publishing's journal Energy & Environmental Science, launched in 2008, did not appear in the recent 2009 Impact Factor figures released by Thomson Reuters. When we raised the issue with their Technical Support team, they identified a technical error, and the following figures were supplied directly to us by email:
Energy & Environmental Science
2009 JCR
Total Citations: 478
Impact Factor: 8.500
Immediacy Index: 1.195
Journal Rank in Category (by Impact Factor)
8 of 139 journals, in "Chemistry, Multidisciplinary"
2 of 71 journals, in "Energy & Fuels"
2 of 127 journals, in "Engineering, Chemical"
1 of 181 journals, in "Environmental Sciences"
Unfortunately Thomson Reuters have advised us that it is unlikely that the journal will appear on the official listings until September 2010.
Energy & Environmental Science published its first issue in 2008. Since then it has steadily earned a reputation for high quality, high impact content, which has now been reinforced by this first impact factor.
This impressive result reflects the exceptional quality and reputation of the RSC Publishing portfolio as a whole, which now has an average Impact Factor of 5.46. Indeed, RSC journals have experienced significant growth over the last two years (74% growth in articles published), further raising the profile of the journals in their respective research communities.
