Using Federated Search to Access IEEE Xplore? You May Need to Update
Your Service.
Dear Colleagues,
Many IEEE Xplore subscribers are using federated search tools to
search IEEE Xplore articles along side other publisher and
organisational content.
The IEEE are making an upgrade to the service that facilitates
federating IEEE Xplore information, the IEEE XML Gateway. If you are
currently using a federated search tool such as MetaLib or Serial
Solutions 360, or an in house service, please contact the IEEE so they
can ensure you receive continued access to IEEE Xplore after the
upgrade.
Institutions hosting a vendor solution internally or using an in house
solution will need to make some changes to connect to the new version
of the IEEE XML Gateway. Externally hosted solutions should seamlessly
upgrade; however, we would still like to hear from you to make sure
you are still receiving IEEE results after the upgrade.
Please e-mail [log in to unmask] and provide all of the following
information:
1. Your name
2. Your institution name
3. Are you using a vendor or an in house federated search tool?
4. What vendor are you using?
5. Is the vendor solution hosted externally by the vendor or internally?
Some of you may have provided this information to the IEEE already. If
so thanks you and the IEEE will be in contact soon with upgrade details.
Please feel free to contact the IEEE with any questions you may have.
