Slightly heretical, I know.... but isn't one of the selling points of
repositories to draw attention to an Authors work? (taking a leaf from
the mail-shot world: the wider you can get the message, the more people
you get in your 1% return rate)
What might be more interesting is promoting the research people are
doing into higher citations for work in repositories compared to work
that is only available through the traditional Journal network.
Another facet that tweeks my interest is whether the level of citation
depends on Full Text availability....
