The Department of Germanic Studies at Sheffield is staging a Luxembourg
Studies Symposium on Wednesday July 14th to celebrate the distinguished
career of Professor Gerald Newton, Professor of Germanic Linguistics and
Luxembourgish at the University of Sheffield, and mark his pending
retirement. The event is also to acknowledge the Grand Duchy’s generous
grant to our Department of a new senior post in Luxembourgish Studies,
enabling further development of the work that Gerald initiated. The
symposium is open and without charge, but if you plan to come, it would
be helpful if you could email [log in to unmask]

contribute to Gerald’s retirement gift, please contact us likewise. He
does not read this email list, so your donation would be a secret.
