Dear All,
I hope you won't mind if I bring to you an article which I am trying to
help track down for an exhibition at the Wellcome Institute of which
Caroline Fisher is the curator. The Wellcome Institute is putting on
this exhibition 11 Nov 2010 - 27 Feb 2011 about the history and culture
of
Drug-taking Whose working title is 'High Society. They are borrowing
from us an early Edition of Baudlelaire's Paradis artificiels. They
were also interested in Borrowing from us a volume of Revue des deux
mondes (1 February 1846) which Contains 'Club des hashishins' an article
by Théophile Gautier. Now our set Of Revue Des deux mondes lacks this
issue of the Revue des deux mondes. I have just looked it up on Gallica
and as far as I can see according to Gallica's digitized edition the
pagination is p520-535
http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k86894f.r=Le+Club+des+Hachichins.f5
21.langEN.hl
I am wondering whether anybody has this article in their copy of the
Revue des deux mondes and whether they would be prepared to lend to the
Wellcome
Institute?

All good wishes,
Nick

Hello Nick

I hope you are well. I expect that Jane Holmes has been in touch with
you about collecting the Baudelaire book for 'High Society'.

I just had one further question for you. When I visited we had a look in
your Journal storage area for a particular volume of 'Revue des Deux
Mondes', which was missing at the time. I have looked for this
publication elsewhere and have been unable to find it, so I just
wondered whether your copy is still missing, or if not whether we might
be able to borrow it too.

The volume in question is:

Revue Des Deux Mondes, 1 February 1846
And the article which we are after is 'Club des hashishins' by Theophile
Gautier.

If you are able to check about this I would be most grateful.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best wishes
Caroline

Dear Nick

Thank you very much for your letter of 3 June.

In response to some of your questions:

The light levels in the gallery will be 45-50 lux +/- 5 lux.
The temperature will be 18-22 degrees.

Regarding the making of a cradle, I wondered whether we could arrange
for the book to come down here early for us to make a cradle for it?
I will put our Project Manager, Jane Holmes in touch with you. She is
away until next week, but she will want to be in contact in due course
to make arrangements, so I have copied her into this email.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best wishes

Caroline
