Hi Torsten,
fdt_paths represents at each voxel the number of valid streamlines that have
passed through (by valid I mean the streamlines that fulfill the conditions
imposed by the waypoints/exclusion masks/criteria). These numbers are not
normalized, they depend e.g. on the number of seeds. You can normalize them
using the "waytotal" number included in the waytotal file produced by
probtrackX. This indicates the total number of valid streamlines (i.e.
waytotal=total streamlines requested-excluded streamlines).
Cheers,
Stam

Just me again,
in particular I was wondering whether the scaling of the fdt_paths is always
the same from image to image. If not, what would be a sensible way to
normalize the data?
Cheers,
Torsten
